Road Modification Project – 340 Industrial Ave.

Claridge Homes is undertaking road work on Industrial Avenue and Neighbourhood Way to prepare for the construction of the new Riverstone Retirement Residence at 340 Industrial Ave in 2012. The project will include:

Industrial Ave, Alta Vista Dr. to Neighbourhood Way:

New sidewalk on south side
New multi-use pathway
Concrete median extension
New accesses (2)
New bus pads

Neighborhood Way, Industrial Ave to Coronation Ave:

New barrier curbs on east and west sides
New sidewalk on west side
New access

The above meets the conditions as set out in the approved site plan.

Removal of Ash Trees on Private Property – City to Negotiate Prices to Help Citizens

Councillor Peter Hume has advised the Riverview Park Community Association that the City of Ottawawill be issuing a RFP/Request for Price for Contractors to bid on taking down ash trees on private property. The plan is for the city to negotiate good prices which will be available to private citizens. This should provide some cost relief for those with ash trees in their back yards that have been affected by the Emerald Ash Borer. We will post an update and the city notice once the agreements are finalized.

UPDATE – Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Contruction News

Concerns were raised at the recent Community Liaison Committee regarding the work completed for a temporary parking lot on Hydro 1 land west of the Botsford. The Perley and Rideau Veterans`Health Centre team have decided to abandon the original idea of adding temporary parking in this area. Based on the regular parking needs, they have found they have enough space for parking in the temporary parking that was created on-site on the north side of the property leased to the Perley Rideau.

The excavated area is being filled in and seeding or sodding of the area will be done in the spring.

Abandoned Shopping Carts

During the Oct. 26^thAGM a resident advised that there is an issue in our community regarding abandoned shopping carts. Councilor Hume’s office spoke to representatives from Walmart about this problem and was advised that they hired a contractor to sweep areas in Riverview Park for abandoned shopping carts on a regular basis. If residents notice any addition areas that need to be patrolled please contact Councilor Hume’s office and they will be in touch with Walmart.
